Angel/Agent Denise Bilton

Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

My prayers have been answered. An angel named Denise Bilton has come along and offered to be my agent. I was thinking this on the way home from our meeting tonight when a car passed me with a “444″ in the license plate. According to some of us, the number “444″ means angels are with us. Such wonderful sychronicity. I love it!

I have felt for most of my life that I must do everything myself. It is difficult for me to accept help, but I have decided it’s time for a change and I am accepting Denise’s help. God bless you Denise! She gave me some homework, which is due on Saturday morning. This is good…

Thanks to Denise, Brenda and Living Spirit Church

I must thank Brenda and Denise again for having a house concert even though they sold their home. And thank you to Sheila and Karla and Living Spirit for letting us use the Church. Living Spirit Church has beautiful acoustics. It’s a joy to sing there. We had large crowd for a house concert - 18 people. Denise sang back up on her song, twice, even though she had a bit of a cold. You sounded great Denise!

One of the highlights of the evening for me was Gregory. He said when he grows up, he’s going to convert his garage into a recording studio so I can record my music for free. Then he asked permission to download “Why Doubt?” to his iPod. Of course, I gave him permission. He asked me if I ever thought of doing cartoons. I never did ask him what he meant by that. But I’d like to know.

Afterwards, several of us went to hear our friend Nancy sing with The Itch at TGI Fridays in Brookfield. We danced in the aisle between the booths and the bar. Even Denise’s mom joined in. She got us to do some line dancing too. The servers there were quite tolerant of us and laughed and smiled as they maneuvered around us with the trays and drinks.

Thanks to everyone who came to the concert - to my friends and to Denise and Brenda’s family and friends! Elizabeth, I hope you enjoy the CD!

Blessings and abundance to all of you!

Why Doubt? - Denise and Brenda’s House Concert

Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Why doubt? It’s the title of the song I wrote for Denise and Brenda’s house concert. Of course there’s a story behind it.

Denise and Brenda, like most of us, have gone through some things that didn’t look to good on the surface. In the end, they worked out, for good. In the song, we’ve focused on stories related to their home.

As synchronicity would have it, I had been going through ups and downs related to Matt’s and my home. Once I wrote their song, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It became somewhat of a mantra. For a good couple of weeks it helped me accept several stressful situations I was in. And since then, some things have worked themselves out. So, thank you for your inspirational stories Denise and Brenda!

Speaking of their house - well - it’s been sold. Living Spirit Church has graciously offered their space for their concert. I believe it’s quite fitting, since Living Spirit has been Denise and Brenda’s spiritual home for a while now. We’ve been blessed to have them in our lives. They are moving to Florida. We will miss them.

I recorded the song this week and Denise sang back up. I didn’t know it, but she used to be in a couple of bands. She played guitar and sang in a 50’s and 60’s band and in a country band. And, she may sing back up at the concert. It’s up to her.

Anne Mitchell’s House Concert

Thank you Anne, for welcoming me into your home and for allowing me to share my music and the song I wrote for you with your friends! You are such a gracious hostess and a good friend…

And to the beautiful women who attended the concert - I am so grateful for your support, your joy, and your generosity of spirit. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Talking with you made remember again, that we are not alone, that we are strong, and that at our core, we are love.

There are pictures…

Recording and Open Book Coop

This was a big week. I recorded the song for my first house concert at the SurroundInSound Studio. Jonathan did a beautiful job with it. Matt and I got to know Jonathan a little. He’s a great story story teller. We also enjoyed his gorgeous studio. Picture hard wood, thick colorful area rugs, beautiful cloths and art on the walls, with warm track lighting, and you’re in the SurroundInSound Studio. Thanks for everything Jonathan!

On Saturday evening I sang at the Open Book Coop in Shorewood. What a wonderful group of people! Eric was managing that night. He was very welcoming and had some fun introducing me. Joanna was working behind the coffee counter. She took good care of people. The accoustics were fantastic. The Open Book Coop only books musicians who perform their own original music.

I did 12 new songs and felt good about them. Megan was there too and I got choked up when I sang her song, “I Never Knew How Much I’d Miss You,” but I made it through. Matt got up and sang harmony with me on “We are Powerful”. I just love your voice Matt! He also did a wonderful job running sound. Thank you Matt for all you do!

Thanks to Julie and Chel for coming. Chel, thanks for bringing Ginny. Megan and I enjoyed talking with her. Thanks to Mark and Craig for stopping in! I met some new folks - I still see your faces, but I’m sorry I don’t remember everyone’s names. Thanks to Kate, Mike, Mark, Hunter, John, and Wayne for sharing your evenings with me. To all of you - your presence and support means a lot to me!

I left last night feeling very blessed! Thank you all!

A Song for You - February 15, 2010

I am so excited about my new offering… If you have a house concert for me, I’ll write you a song.

I’ve realized that I’ve told and will continue to tell my story through my songs. Now, I have the privelige and honor of helping others tell their stories. And what better way to do it than by singing their song for them in the comfort of their home, surrounded by friends and family?

Two friends have already booked concerts. I had lunch with my friend Anne on Friday and have finished the lyrics for her song already. I can’t wait to create its melody. Her concert’s in March.

Denise, you’re next! By the way, I must thank Denise profusely for getting this blog working again. Thank you Denise! You’re wonderful!

Thank you to everyone who came out on a chilly January evening.  So many of you expressed your support and encouragement for me to create more concert dates.  I am currently scheduling several appearances, including house concerts, and I will post them as they are scheduled.
